Monthly Roundup: 90s Remodel Project Updates and Antique Shopping
This August has been quite memorable and definitely one for the books. House of Boat was launched this month and it’s been quite a transition for me going from running one business to two. It has been challenging but also thrilling- I am glad I’m living in my answered prayer. Now, let’s move on to today’s post…
This project has been a long time coming and I am so excited that I officially get to start working on the 90s Home Remodel Project. The first room I’ve been designing is the office- my office to be exact. I’ve gone through a few designs because I can’t seem to make up my mind, lol. One thing I’ve learned during this design process is to not rush the design but rather take it one step at a time. So this month, our focus was on installing the hardwood floors. I wanted to do that first so I could see how it looks in the space before I make any other design decisions. For the floors, I decided on the herringbone pattern and I am so obsessed - (it looks so good in person)!! So I thought I’d make a mood board to show you all the design direction I’m thinking….

One thing I’m going to add is vintage lighting. I have been loving all things antique and vintage lately so I can’t wait to find the perfect lighting for the space. I’m also going to wait on the lighting until after the cabinetry and painting are done.
My office is going to double as my design studio as well so one of the things I knew I wanted was cabinets and shelves to store all those beautiful design samples and materials. I’m going with inset drawers for the cabinets because I want the space to feel like a mix of modern and traditional styles. For color, I’m leaning towards brown but the olive is also stunning, so we’ll see which one fits the space after the cabinets are built.
Office Progress
This office space used to be a scary and ugly dining room, so during the pandemic, I renovated it to serve as my studio space. And four years later, I’m ready for a change to use it more as an office/studio space. The biggest change I’ve made here is the carpet. It was just hideous and old so I’m quite ecstatic that I have hardwood now. Here are some photos from where we started till now..
Antique Shopping
Like I said at the beginning of this post, I have been on a vintage kick lately. So here are a few snapshots of some beautiful things I found…
